In 1979 a group of citizens established an organization which was committed to promoting and
advocating for the arts in Pennsylvania. That organization became Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania, the only
statewide multidisciplinary arts organization committed to advancing the arts in Pennsylvania through advocacy, programs,
and services.

Pennsylvania ranks 13th in nation for per capita spending on the arts with $1.37. The national average is $1.53. Four of the six states bordering Pennsylvania rank in the top 10 for per capita arts spending. |
